Yangtze River Delta at a Glance
2008 Touchroad China- Africa Invest Forum is the largest Africa investment seminar in Yangtze River Delta region. The Yangtze River Delta or Yangtze Delta, generally comprises the triangular-shaped territory of Shanghai, southern Jiangsu province and northern Zhejiang province. The area lies at the heart of the region traditionally called Jiangnan (literally: "south of the Yangtze River").
The Yangtze River Delta has a long history of commercial civilization, for the rich and fertile area gives birth to its mature commercial modes of thinking, embodied by many steady and practical companies.
In 2006, China¡¯s national GDP reached 20.94 trillion yuan and GDP output registered in the Yangtze River Delta region accounted for 18.9% of the total national GDP value. The average economic growth rate of the 16 cities in the Yangtze River Delta region reached 14.7%, indicating that the region has become an important driving force of China¡¯s economic growth.
In terms of the total supply and demand, Shanghai remains the leading commercial city in the region. Shanghai has become the first city in China with GDP figure exceeding the one-trillion-yuan mark. Meanwhile, the total output value of 8 cities in JiangsuProvince has exceeded 1.7 trillion yuan and that of 7 cities in ZhejiangProvince has surpassed 1.1 trillion yuan.
In this region, hundreds of companies have been established in Africa,and more and more entrepreneurs are going out to Africa .
